Announcing a great opportunity for your premises to win a prestigious award and for you and your team to be appreciated for the contribution you are making to improve the look of Yarmouth’s shopping area. The Civic Society of Great Yarmouth is seeking to promote and enhance the heart of the town centre by publicly recognising the effort that so many businesses make with their shop and business frontages. This also includes the stalls in the Six Day Market.
The five categories are:
- Retail to include national, independent and charity shop sub-categories
- Food and drink establishments with national and independent sub-categories
- Services to include estate agents, banks, building societies etc.
- Personal services e.g. hairdressers, nailbars, tanning studios etc.
- Market stalls in the Six Day Market
The Civic Society plan to undertake a visual audit in the area covered by the Town Centre Business Improvement District week commencing 28th September 2026.
Following the visual audit by Civic Society members, from week commencing 12th October, the finalists in each category will be informed and given a window sticker to display.
Finalists will also be invited to an Awards Ceremony in November sponsored by Great Yarmouth Borough Council and Great Yarmouth Town Centre Partnership.
The overall winner will receive a trophy and the winners of each category will receive a framed certificate.

Halloween Window Trail and Competition
In addition to the Annual Awards an additional prize is up for grabs as shops are encouraged to create their own special Halloween Window displays. These will be judged by the Civic Society judges during w/c 19th October and the winner announced at the Awards ceremony in November. Shops will need to enter themselves into this competition by contacting town centre manager Jonathan Newman by email jonathan@gytcp.co.uk by Friday 9th October. The Town Centre Partnership will then create a trail map of the windows for visitors to use during the October half term school holiday.
