The 3-day Great Yarmouth Christmas Fayre returns to the Minster church of St. Nicholas on Friday 20th November. The annual free entry event will host over 35 handcraft, festive food and gift stalls in the historic building. On Saturday and Sunday of the Christmas Fayre, the Santa Express road train provide a free shuttle service between the Market Place and the Minster where Father Christmas will be available for a photo and to check that you are on his ‘good’ list! Entry to the Christmas Fayre is free and festive entertainment is planned throughout the weekend in the Minster. There is also a special Christmas Concert being staged at the Minster on the evening of Saturday 21st November when the Norwegian Choir, Lardal Kantori, will perform a selection of traditional Norwegian Christmas music. Tickets are just £10 and include a buffet and meeting the choir members after the performance.
On the evening of Friday 20th November, Christmas is officially launched in Great Yarmouth town centre with the switch-on off the town’s Christmas Lights. Her Worship the Mayor, Cllr Jade Martin, will switch on the town centre and Christmas Tree illuminations from a stage in the Market Place Piazza area. Pop star and recording artist Gareth Gates, star of the Beauty and the Beast pantomime being staged at the Britannia Pier this Christmas, will assist the Her Worship the Mayor with the switch-on preceded by an evening of entertainment with choirs, dance groups, and a special performance from Gareth himself, ahead of the plunger being pressed at 7pm, which will be immediately followed by a rooftop firework display.
The Christmas Fayre will be open from 10am until 8pm on Friday, 10am until 5pm on Saturday and 10am until 4pm on Sunday.
